I'm failin to see why Colin Montgomerie has missed out again at the US Open - I'm a golf fan but don't understand the psychology of it very well. How can a player go from almost winning to barely making an impact in the course of a year? |

Last year's tournament was a bit unexpected. The US Open has always been Monty's best chance of a Major but I think even he thought his chance had gone before last year. He should have won that title and I'm sure it was on his mind this week.
I also feel Monty's career shouldn't be defined by his lack of Major success. He has been one of the most talented and consistent Scottish competitors of his generation. Unfortunately his legacy will probably be one of ultimate failure (like, also unfairly, Tim Henman). It's a shame when homegrown sports men and women fall just short of the pinnacle of their sport, but that doesn't necessarily mean we should forget their extremely impresive achievements. |
