Kirkbride takes gold at Commonwealth Championships

Kilmarnock's Peter Kirkbride struck gold at the Commonwealth Championships in Limassol.
The British Under-23 champion and former Commonwealth Youth Games Under-85kg champion stepped up to Under-94kg and tiumphed in Cyprus.
He lifted 136kg in the snatch and followed up with 181kg in the clean and jerk to finish with a total of 317kgs.
It comfortably gave him gold ahead of Canada's Coe Hoorn who lifted a total of 265kg.
There was a bronze medal for Kilbride's Kilmarnock club-mate Crag Carfray in the Under-62kg class.
