Massive medal haul for Gladiator Club in British competitions

Gladiator weightlifting club enjoyed a successful month with lifters competing in The British University and College Championships in Sheffield and the British Masters In Lilleshall.
The University championships had 6 lifters in the competition, all taking either gold or silver.
Callum Downie was in the 94kg Class and with a 100kg lift achieved in the snatch - a new personal best - he went on to overcome 127kg in the clean and jerk to claim the British Title.
Stephanie McDiarmid lifted 43kg in the snatch at the second time of asking, and 53kg in the clean and jerk to give her a new best in her first attempt. Her performance gave her PBs all round and 1st place.
Collette Will started her competition on fine form with 53kg in the snatch for a new PB. She then took 60kg in the clean and jerk to gain 2nd place.
Haris Ansari also took second place with lifts of 80kg and 121kg respectively in the snatch and clean and jerk.
Mark Fitzpatrick struggled in the snatch but lifted a massive 205kg in the clean and jerk to win the title on the day.
The British Masters had two Gladitaor Club lifters, Amanda Craig and Martin Boland.
Amanda is a relative new comer to weightlifting and this was her second competition (with the 1st one being a club comp). Despite nerves, she lifted 30kg in the snatch and 44kg in the clean and jerk to give her a British title at her first attempt.
Boland was making a comeback after taking a few years out after the Commonwealth Games – and made a welcome return in his first ever Masters event. He snatched 72kg clean and jerked 92kg to win his first British title.
