Scotland's top two face double-header clash in new season
The Scottish National Water Polo League fixtures for the 2008/2009 season have now been drawn, with back-to-back clashes between the country’s two heavyweights taking centre-stage: current champions Dunfermline and last season’s runners-up, Warrender.
Warrender will play their fierce rivals at home in south Edinburgh on the 27th October, with the return game at Dunfermline being played ten days later on the 6th November.
Last year’s title went right to the wire with Dunfermline snatching a dramatic victory in a tense game at Warrender’s home pool.
Both teams look to be at full strength this year, with Dunfermline’s Great Britain youngsters Darren and Chris Campbell looking to nullify the threat of Warrender’s captain and Scotland Player of the Year, Callum MacGregor.
MacGregor finished top scorer in the league in the 07/08 season, and will relish playing against Dunfermline as both clubs form part of the composite team, Caledonia, who play in the highly competitive British League.
