City of Edinburgh pair Gavin Watt and Colin Macnab have entered this week's European Under-23 Beach Championships in Russia.

The pair, who have made an impact on this year's Scottish beach tour have decided to chance their arm further afield and it is the first time Scotland has been represented at the event.

Watt and Macnab are seeded 21 and know the standard will be the highest they have ever faced.

"It will be a great experience for us," said Macnab, "Neither of us has been to Russia before and it's all been a bit last-minute putting it together but we really enjoy the beach game.

"No matter how we do, we are both still eligible to compete in next year's event."
