Krawczyk family seeking silverware on all fronts
Vince Krawczyk hopes to add to the family silverware at Sunday's Scottish Cup finals at Wishaw Sports Centre.
The Troon PA coach is out to make up for the disappointment of losing the Scottish League title to Su Ragazzi in a dramatic play-off by steering his team to victory over RucanorJets in the women's final.
Daughters Elaine and Jenny are both in the Troon PA squad and son Alan is playing for Glasgow Mets in the men's final, also against Rucanor Jets.
Alan played professionally in Germany last season and his return has helped Mets to their best season with eastern European signings Ivan Poupaznik and Marek Mrowka also playing their part.
There will be a new name on the men's trophy with neither Mets or Jets having hoisted the cup before.
Mets have never been in the final before but have won the Top Teams Cup and took Kilmarnock all the way in the league play-offs before narrowly missing out on the title.
"This season has been a fantastic achievement," outlined player-coach Andy Fleming.
"The club has been in existence for 27 years and was in a position to win a domestic treble, which has never been done in our history, in my first year as head coach was very exciting.
"The club were very disappointed to miss out on the league title but I think any coach would have bitten your hand off to have reached two cup finals in one season.
"The cup double is our goal and I am confident that we have the players to do this job on Sunday."
Jets' player coach Barry Robertson is playing his last competitive match - at the age of 53.
He is the oldest player ever to play in a final and Sunday's match comes a remarkable 35 years after he played in his first final for Coatbridge YMCA against Telford.
