Shauna Mullin loses out after impressive start to Spanish Masters
Edinburgh's Shauna Mullin and English partner Zara Dampney made an impressive start to the Spanish Masters beach tournament in Gran Canaria, beating Slovakians Natalia Dubovcova and Dominika Nestarcova 21-17 27-25.
But the British pair then lost out in the next round to Dutch pair Danielle Remmers and Marloes Wesselink by the narrowest of margins.
After losing the first set, Mullin and Dampney fought back to win the second but were eventually edged out 17-21 21-18 15-17.
It was a blow to the pair who were hoping for a decent run after holding their own in the opening two weekends of the world tour in Brazil and China.
