Former Scotland indoor international Shauna Mullin and English partner Denise Johns finished a creditable 17th at the FIVB World Beach Tour event in Sanya, China.

The Briths pair, building towards the 2012 Olympics, lost their final match 18-21 10-21 to Italian pair Daniela Gioria and Giulia Momoli.

But they had earlier gained a notable 21-13 21-9 win over Swedish pair Camilla Nilsson and Tora Hansson.

Mulline, currently training full-time at the University of Bath, gave up the indoor game 18 months ago to concentrate on beach volleyball.
