
Mixed fortunes for beach stars

Scottish beach stars make headway in the Far East
Edinburgh's Robin Miedzybrodzki and English partner Gregg Weaver finished a creditable 17th at the $380,000 Sanya Beach Open in China.
The recently-formed GB pair lost narrowly to Holland's Emil Boersma and Ilias Paulidis, seeded eighth, after taking the first set 21-12, 15-21, 18-20.
Miedzybrodzki and Weaver had earlier beatn Chinese pair Zhou and Chen 18-21 21-19 15-11 to guarantee a top-20 finish.
Shauna Mullin, also from Edinburgh, and England's Zara Dampney beat Japan's Mutsumi Ozaki and Ayumi Kusano 21-13 21-18.
They now face experienced Italian pair Daniela Giora and Giulia Momoli in the 17th place play-of
