Maiden wins for GB

McGivern and Lamont help GB to first victories on the road
Scot’s Mark McGivern and Chris Lamont were among the victorious Great Britain Men’s Volleyball team who did the double over Croatia at the weekend.
The two wins were Britain’s first on the road this season, in what is the penultimate round of the 2009 European League.
Lamont in particular was instrumental in the comprehensive 3-0 win on Saturday, including a service ace and some great work in the middle.
On Sunday McGivern was outstanding in a stirring third set comeback, from 15-20 down his serve caused the Croats all sorts of problems as Britain came through 25-22.
The match as a whole was a much tougher affair on Sunday, but McGirvan’s excellence helped Britain to an eventual 3-2 victory.
