Sitting Volleyball comes to Glasgow for exhibition match
Scotland will play its part in helping create a sitting volleyball team capable of competing for a medal at the London Paralympics in 2012.
Scottish Cup winners Glasgow Mets are hosting a clinic at Holyrood Sports Centre on September 20 and 21.
GB Volleyball Team head coach Joze Banfi, who took the Dutch women's team to a silver medal in the 2008 Parlaympic finals, will be leading the events on the day assisted by Peter Guernari Performance Development Manager for the British Volleyball Federation.
Mets' able-bodied team will play an exhibition match against the GB sitting volleyball squad.
Sitting volleyball has enjoyed full Paralympic status since 1980, with a Great Britain team competing at the highest level until 1992.
Now, after a sixteen year absence, the sport is making a comeback in the UK. The British Volleyball Federation?s Sitting Programme aims to develop squads with athletes from all four home nations to represent GB in London.
