GB takes another stride towards 2012
In preparation for the London 2012 Olympics, Great Britain is going to enter future European competitions as a unified team.
The Britons took a leap up in standard last weekend with a series of historical results in Sheffield during the third leg of the 2008 European League.
The side - including Scots Mark McGivern, Paul Glissov, Andy Benson and Jonny Herley - outplayed both Portugal and Greece to notch GB's first two matches in the league. The team also stretched Slovakia.
The fourth round of the league takes place in Rottterdam this weekend and another Scot, Chris Lamont, is added to the squad.
This is still improvement to be made, but the squad coached by Dutch-born Harry Brokking are constantly gaining the necessary international experience which is absolutely needed to score decisive points.
"We had the initiative in the first set but we have to learn not to switch off. When you have someone by the throat, you have to finish the job," coach Brokking said.
"But I am happy with last weekend as we have shown that we can win matches at this level and have made a lot of progress. This is what we have been working for."
