Kinross triathlete Cameron Milne captures crowned British youth champion
Kinross’ Cameron Milne has been crowned British Youth Triathlon champion after storming to victory on Sunday in Hyde Park.
Milne led a Scottish one-two across the line, coming home in 38:26 minutes, ahead of Duncan McArthur, who was 12 second behind his compatriot.
“The race was tough, I got a break in the swim and I just tried to extend it through transition,” said Milne.
“I got in the break and put my head down and worked as hard as I could to stay away. In the run it was a case of keeping the gap there and coming home strong.”
McArthur became embroiled in a sprint finish for second place, edging out Simon Cooper, who was just a second slower in third.
“It was awesome because there was a really big crowd compared to what I’m used to doing with the big banners and all,” added McArthur.
