Kirsty McWilliam gears up to defend Junior World Triathlon title
Stirling's Kirsty McWilliam will lead Great Britain to the Junior World Triathlon Championships in Australia in September - bidding to capture her second successive title.
The 19-year-old lifted the crown last year in Vancouver to complete a historic double for Great Britain after Helen Jenkins (nee Tucker) captured the senior title on the same day.
Leading the men's ranks will be European junior champion Jonathan Brownlee - younger brother of Alistair, who currently leads the overall rankings in the World Championship Series.
The Junior World Championships will be held on the same day as the senior finals in the Gold Coast and British Triathlon performance director Heather Williams is convinced the juniors can emulate the seniors.
"The GB Junior World Triathlon Championship Team has some very talented junior triathletes, who are already competitive on a senior level," she said.
"At the last ITU World Triathlon Championships we won two medals and I am confident that we have the athletes and support staff to repeat this in Australia."
