Scottish number one Elena Baltacha suffered a disappointing return to action against Austrian Patricia Mayr in qualifying for the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami.

Baltacha was clearly still troubled by her back injury as she was forced to concede in the second set with the score at 0-6 0-2.

It was clear things were not right in the first set where she served two double-faults in her first service game where she was broken to love.

She was then broken to love in her next service game to trail 0-3 and, though she held a break point in the fourth game, she also lost that.

She only won nine points in total in the first set and two of those were on her opponent's double-faults.
