Andy Murray in the frame to open Davis Cup campaign for GB
Andy Murray will open Great Britain’s must-win Davis Cup tie against Poland – and will also join forces with Ross Hutchins in the doubles.
The world number three takes on Michal Przysiezny in the opening rubber and will then play Polish number one Jerzy Janowicz on Sunday.
Teenager Dan Ward makes his Davis Cup debut as the other singles player while captain John Lloyd has the option of replacing either Murray or Hutchins in the doubles with Colin Fleming, should he choose.
“I hadn't seen much of Dan before this week, but he's been good in practice and the team,” said Murray.
“The team are getting on well so it's been good.”
Great Britain must win the game to remain in the Euro/Africa Group One – the second tier of world tennis.
And Lloyd insists blooding 19-year old Evans in such a crucial match is not a risk.
“Dan has showed a lot of promise, and he's really earned his place here. He worked hard in practice and got on well with the group,” he said.
