Murray grumbles his way to comeback win

Andy Murray returned to action with a comfortable victory in the Valencia Open.

The British number one and world number four dropped just four games on his way to a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Spanish wildcard and clay court specialist Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

Murray, in his first match since Britain's Davis Cup defeat to Poland, seemed to suffer no problems with the wrist injury that has kept him on the sidelines.

But he still looked lacklustre, grimacing in pain at one stage as he held his lower back.

Despite the ease of the scoreline - and the fact he was on court for exactly one hour - this was certainly not a fluent Murray performance.

He will now face Leonardo Mayer, the world number 64, in the third round on Thursday.

However, whatever happens this week in Spain, Murray is already in the money.

As reported earlier this year, the 22-year old Scot has put pen to paper on a £15 million five-year sponsorship deal with Adidas.

Murray will wear the Fred Perry logo for the last time at the ATP Tour World Finals in London later this month and will unveil his new look when he competes with Laura Robson in the Hopman Cup early in the new year

"I'm really excited to be joining Adidas as they are a massive global sports brand with a credible heritage in tennis," said Murray, after his 19 management company concluded the deal.

"Joining a list of stars who have worn this like Muhammad Ali and David Beckham is an honour. This deal will help me on and off court."
