Mixed fortunes for Scots

Baltacha progresses while McCulloch and Gater crash out
Scottish number one Elena Baltacha eased into the last eight of the $50,000 ITF event in Fukuoka, Japan, with a 6-1 6-0 dismissal of Russian Ksenia Lykina.
The top seed, who has only dropped three games on the way to the quarter-finals, now meets another Russian, Elena Chalova.
Closer to home, wildcards Morven McCulloch and Katie Gater both bowed out of the rain-hit AEGON Pro-Series at Craiglockhart.
McCulloch, who had come through the qualifying rounds, lost 6-3 6-0 to Oxfordshire's Lucy Brown.
Gater put up a decent fight against number four seed Elizabeth Thomas 7-5 6-3.
