Jamie Murray positive despite early exit at AEGON International
Jamie Murray insists he is starting to find his form again, despite crashing out of the AEGON International at the first hurdle on Wednesday.
While brother Andy goes from strength to strength Jamie has struggled to repeat his 2007 heroics, when alongside Jelena Jankovic he claimed the Wimbledon mixed doubles title, with his world doubles ranking dropping from 27 to 65 this year.
The 23-year-old has tried his luck with a series of partners including Simon Aspelin, Jamie Delgado, Paul Hanley, Pavel Vizner, Gilles Muller and Jonathan Erlich but to little avail with a semi-final appearance in Nottingham earlier this month his best result in a year.
Murray was again on the receiving end in Eastbourne yesterday as alongside Erlich he returned to court for a championship tie break against Bruno Soares and Kevin Ullyett having won the first set 6-4 and lost the second 7-6.
But things didn't go according to script as Soares and Ullyett reached the second round with a 10-7 tie-break victory, leaving a demoralised Murray to attempt to look on the bright side.
"The match went alright. I played pretty well on Tuesday but we ended up stopping and having to come back and maybe I lost a bit of rhythm," said the 2007 US Open mixed doubles semi finalist.
"To lose is disappointing but that's that. It's not been great recently, I've not been playing well, but I've started to feel better in the last couple of weeks.
"Obviously getting the wins on the board is the most important thing though and that's not happening.
"I'm looking forward to Wimbledon. Wimbledon is Wimbledon it's our biggest tournament of the year."
