Colin Fleming worked his way through three qualifying rounds in the $50,000 event in Tallahassee, Florida.

But he went out narrowly in the first round of the singles after a three-set match with Japan's Go Soeda 6-3 2-6 7-6.

The Linlithgow player had battled through qualifying after beating American wildcard Greg Ouellette 6-3 6-2 in his first match.

He went on to see off Scott Oudsema (US) 6-4 7-6 before booking his place in the main draw with a 7-6 6-3 win over Ceci Mamit from the Philippines.
