Linlithgow's Colin Fleming lost 6-7 (6-8) 6-3 6-4 to Birmingham's eighth-seeded Dan Evans in the quarter-finals of the Glasgow International at Scotstoun.
The unseeded Scot had beaten the number two seed in his opening match and went on to book his place in the last eight with a 7-6 6-1 win over Josh Milton from Wales.
But Evans came back strongly in the final two sets to deny Fleming a place in the semi-finals.
There was some consolation in that he later teamed up with Ken Skupski in the doubles to reach the semi-finals with a 6-4 6-2 win over Dan Cox and Josh Milton.
