Colin Fleming progresses in doubles at Queen's
Broxburn doubles star Colin Fleming continued his fine form on grass by booking a date with American second seeds Bob and Mike Bryan at the AEGON Championships at the Queen's Club.
The 24-year-old, ranked as Britain's fifth best doubles player, teamed up with fellow Brit Ken Skupski to overcome Romanian duo Andrei Pavel and Horia Tecau 7-6, 6-4.
The British duo won the Cremona Challenge last month and finished runners-up at last week's AEGON Trophy in Nottingham.
And Fleming insists their confidence will help them push the Bryans, one of the best doubles pairings ever, to the limit.
"The aim was to get to a tournament like this and get the opportunity to test ourselves against some of the best players in the world and we have that now," said Fleming, who has been handed a Wimbledon wild card with Skupski.
"It will just be a tennis match at the end of the day. We look at it as two guys against two guys and it'll be 50-50 when we get out there.
"The Bryans are a pair we've watched a lot of. They pride themselves on their energy and their positivity on court and so do we, they're a team we look up to so it'll be a great challenge for us."
Meanwhile, Andy Murray and 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt bowed out of the doubles, crashing to a 6-4, 6-3 defeat to Lukasz Kubot and Oliver Marach.
But the world number three will get his singles campaign up and running when the top seed faces world number 48 Andreas Seppi.
