Ferrero eyes Murray revenge mission in Montreal
Juan Carlos Ferrero insists the lessons he learned at Wimbledon this summer can help him overcome Andy Murray in the third round of the Rogers Cup in Montreal.
Ferrero, who has clawed his way back to 29th in the world rankings following a series of injuries, faces Murray after beating Frenchman Gael Monfils 6-3, 7-6 in his second-round tie.
The victory gives Ferrero the opportunity to gain revenge for his loss to Murray in the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and while he acknowledges it will be a tough encounter, the Spaniard is confident of victory.
"I know it is going to be very tough but I'm playing the way that I want to play,” said Ferrero.
"He's number three in the world, he's very experienced in these kinds of matches.
"But I learned some things from the match at Wimbledon."
The tournament could also see Murray overtake Rafael Nadal in the rankings, should the Spaniard drop-out early and the Scot progress to the latter stages.
“Obviously I know that I can do it, but it is going to be tough,” said the 22-year-old. “If I play my best I’ve got a good chance of doing well.”
