Baltacha number one seed in $50,000 Challenger
Scottish number one Elena Baltacha is top seed for this week's $50,000 ITF Challenger in Lexington, Kentucky.
Baltacha opens against American Carly Gullickson and there was an early boost for the Scot with Japan's Kumiko Iijima - her main threat in the top half of the draw - pulling out.
The number four seed lost the first set of her opening match against American Alexis Prousis 6-1 and then pulled out injured.
In the men's singles, Glasgow's Jamie Baker wetn out in the first round to Indian qualifier Somdev Devvarman.
After a tight first set, the Devvarman stepped up in the second set to go through 7-5 6-2.
