Elena Baltacha suffered a scare when she dropped the first set to Austrian Nikola Hofmanova at the ITF Challenger in Shrewsbury.

The Scottish number one, seeded five for the event, struggled in the opening set and lost it 6-4.

But she bounced back to take control and won the next two sets comfortably 6-2 6-2 to reach the next round.

Baltacha now faces Welsh qualifier Lisa Whybourn and is strong favourite to make it through.
