Baltacha battles into last 16 of Japanese event
Scottish number one Elena Baltacha had to work hard to secure her place in the last 16 of the $50,000 ITF event in Kurume, Japan.
The top seed was taken to a tie-break in the second set by experienced Japanese player Shiho Hisamatsu.
Baltacha eventually came through 6-3 7-6, winning the tie-break 7-5.
She now faces China's Xinjun Han for a place in the quarter-finals.
