Scottish number one Elena Baltacha, seeded two, faces Japan's Maya Kato in her first match in the Changwon Open in Korea.

Baltacha is using the event as preparation for next week's $50,000 event in Gifu, Japan.

She has already made a bright start in the doubles with England's Amanda Elliott.

The British pair eased through thier first round tie with Korea's You-Jin Kang and Ju-Hee You 6-1 6-4.
