Elena Baltacha loses out in sem-final of Japanese ITF event
Elena Baltacha continues to be dogged by inconsistency in the build-up to Wimbledon.
The Scottish number one, top seed for the tournament, lost out in the semi-finals of the $50,000 ITF event in Fukuoka, Japan.
After easing through the early rounds, she beat Russian Elena Chalova 7-5 6-0 in the quarter-finals.
But Baltacha then lost in the semi-finals to Kai-Chen Chang, a teenager from Chinese-Taipei, 4-6 6-2 6-2.
