Scottish number one Elena Baltacha narrowly lost out 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7-2) to French number three seed Stephanie Foretz in the second round of the $50,000 event in Nantes, France.

Baltacha was looking for an extended run in the event after some disappointing recent results.

Meanwhile, Scottish number three Colin Fleming lost 6-4 7-5 to Matthew Illingworth in the second round of the LTA Futures event at Campden Hill.

But the Linlithgow player progressed in the doubles where, along with Liverpool's Ken Skupski, he beat Niall Angus and Lewis Barnes 6-1 6-1.
