Having fallen at the first hurdle in her bid to qualify for the French Open, Scottish number one Elena Baltacha will now turn her focus on to the grass court season.
Baltacha will join British compatriots Ann Keothavong and Katie O'Brien in the main draw of the women's singles at the prestigious Surbirton Trophy in London later this month.
"The Surbiton Trophy provides our players with the perfect grass court preparation for the upcoming WTA events as they get to play against truly world class opposition,” said Carl Maes, the LTA's head of women's tennis.
The Surbiton Trophy signals the start of the British grass court season and provides many of the top 100 male and female players with the ideal preparation for the upcoming ATP and WTA events.
In 2007, Australian Open runner-up Jo-Wilfried Tsonga won the men’s title while Brenda Schultz-McCarthy lifted the women’s trophy.
The tournament will provide a tough test for Baltacha who is currently ranked 146 in the world and third in Britain.
