Elena Baltacha lost out in the first round of the $100,000 Danish Open in Odense.

The Scottish number one narrowly lost in three sets to number seven seed Lucie Hradecka (Czech Republic) 6-3 4-6 6-4.

Baltacha battled back after losing the first set to take the second set but then dropped her serve in the first game of the final set and never recovered.

It has been a disappointing year for the Scot as she sought to improve her world ranking and establish herself as British number one.
