The Scot lost in straight sets to number two seed Vincent Spadea from America 6-3 6-2.
Baker, currently ranked 317 in the world, was always going to be up against it, facing a player ranked 108.
In the first round, the Scot had to battle hard to beat Canadian qualifier Philip Bester 3-6 7-6 6-4.
In the doubles, Baker and England's Jonathan Marray lost to number four seeds Stephen Amritraj (India) and Joseph Sirianni (Australia) 5-7 7-6 6-10.
