Reid determined to build on early success

Scottish wheelchair tennis ace Gordon Reid is convinced he can come back better than ever next season after this year’s heroics.

The 18-year-old has maintained his position as No.1 in the junior world rankings thanks to several impressive wins including the Junior Masters in Tarbes, France.

But the Helensburgh Tennis Club member is not resting on his laurels and is determined to keep building ahead of London 2012.

He said: “It’s been a brilliant year for me and being No.1 in the world is a massive achievement and one that I’m very proud of.

“But I know there is a lot of work still to do and I’m going to keep working hard and not ease-up at all.

“I’m where I want to be at this stage of my career and if everything keeps moving forward I don’t see any reason why I can’t do well at London 2012.

“But for now it’s all about making sure I have a good winter of training so I can come back next year and keep moving forward."
