Confident Murray cruises through at Queen's

Andy Murray has made a winning start to his grass-court season with a comfortable victory over Andreas Seppi at the AEGON Championships.

Murray, who is the first ever Brit to be top seed at the Queen's Club in the absence of Rafael Nadal, wasted no time in booking his place in round three with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over the world's number 48.

The Scot, ranked third in the world, has already made two appearances at Queen's this year, having teamed up with 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt in the doubles.

And with world number one Nadal and newly-crowned Roger Federer putting their feet up ahead of Wimbledon, the British number one was relieved to get his campaign off the ground, albeit under the pewter clouds of west London.

"I started the first set really well today," said Murray. "I was pleased with how I come out of the blocks in both the first and second set - I just let him creep back in towards the end.

"There were very tricky conditions out there though. Nothing like the French Open. It's very wet and windy and slippery under-foot but I think I handled it pretty well today.

"The only bad thing about today was one poor service game that let him back into the match but it's nice to start with a win.

"The more I get to play on grass the quicker I'm going to adjust and the better prepared I'll be for Wimbledon."
