
Scots stumble

No joy for Scottish players at European Championships
Scottish number one Gavin Rumgay went out in the first round of the European Championships in Stuttgart after having the misfortune to draw Russian Alexander Shibaev.
The Perth player won the first game but lost out 11-7 6-11 8-11 14-16 9-11 in a tight match.
Scotland's other hopes also went out in the first round - Stewart Crawford losing 9-11 4-11 11-9 10-12 8-11 to Andreas Tziambos (Cyprus) and Craig Howieson going down 12-14 4-11 4-11 6-11 to Denis Joset (Switzerland).
In the doubles, Rumgay and Howieson let a two-game lead slip as they lost 11-9 11-2 4-11 8-11 6-11 to Kilomo Vitta (Belgium) and Endika Diaz (Spain) in the first round.
