Gavin Rumgay reaches quarter-finals of Commonwealth Championships
Gavin Rumgay reached the last 16 of the Commonwealth Championships at Scotstoun, the last Scot standing in the individual events. But the Scottish number one, who reached the quarter-finals of the last Commonwealth event in India, lost a tight match with Canadian Peter-Paul Pradabeen 4-11 11-7 9-11 9-11 11-9 6-11. Earlier, Rumgay had beaten New Zealand's Nathan Lowe 12-10 8-11 11-8 11-4 11-7. Stewart Crawford and Craig Howieson both made it through the group stages but lost out in the last 32. Corinna Whitaker also won through her group in the women's singles but lost in the last 32 to Australia's Miao Miao 5-11 1-11 5-11 3-11.
