Rumgay loses out

Scottish number one Gavin Rumgay tumbled out of the World Championships in Yokohama, Japan, but not before giving world number 66 Zoltan Fejer-Konnerth a scare.

Rumgay, who is currently ranked 257, gave his German opponent a tough workout before going down 6-11 11-9 9-11 10-12 7-11.

The Perth player had come through his qualifying group in impressive fashion.

He won his qualifying group with an 11-6 12-10 11-8 11-9 win over Guyana's Paul David after thrashing Brunei's Haji Yusop 11-4 11-1 11-0 11-7.
