Drumchapel Table Tennis Club make history by securing British Premier League
Drumchapel Table Tennis Club made history yesterday by becoming the first Scottish club to win the British Premier League.
The club, which was founded 20 years ago as a means to take youngsters off the streets in the local community, ended the seasons with a 100 percent record.
Ryan Jenkins, Steven Jenkins, Terry Young, Craig Howieson, Craig Hardie and Terry McLernon junior led Drumchapel to a 7-1 victory over Ormesby.
Terry McLernon, head coach at the club, was astounded by how far the club has come in only 20 years. It was fantastic, what a match, definitely a highlight in the history of this club", he said.
"Everything's coming good for us because of the development we're doing in local schools. Today we played a wee boy, Scott Barton, 13, in a Premier League match and he won. Not bad is it?"
