Open water swimming is a booming sport in Britain. If you want to try it out, then why not join a host of Scots set to take part in the Great Swim, a new series of exciting one mile mass participation televised events taking place throughout the UK.

It is hoped that Open water swimming could become the equivalent of the athletics’ marathon – a mass participation activity.

The Great Scottish Swim is taking place at Strathclyde Country Park, North Lanarkshire, on August 29th. It will be a fun day out mixing some of the best athletes in the world with people who have never been out of the local pool. 

It is a chance to experience outdoor swimming in a safe and enjoyable environment and is also a chance to raise money for charity.
