Rome test for Scotland's Olympic women
The British Olympic coach, Ben Titley, is predicting an important test for Scotland's three female swimming Olympians - Hannah Miley, Kirsty Balfour and Caitlin McClatchey - at this weekend's Seven Hills Meet in Rome
According to Titley, who is in charge of the GB women's squad, the Italian event will provide the team with an ideal opportunity to gauge the direction of their hard work since the Olympic trials at the end of March.
"Everyone is in training towards the main goal of Beijing, but the swimmers will be in Rome to race and give the best possible performance at this stage of their season," said Titley.
"It's a good opportunity to swim in a high quality event and face many of those who will be at the Olympics. At this stage of the year it's all about preparation. but the British squad will be looking to swim as well as they possibly can and analyse areas where improvements can be made.
"For our relays, the meet offers a great chance to build that unique bond between and to practise the special skills required."
McClatchey, who has qualified for the individual 100m freestyle, is certain to be involved in the freestyle relays over both 100m and 200m freestyle, while Balfour has a chance of the breaststroke leg in the medley relay.
