Scots water stars

A Scottish team of six savoured success at open water international meets in Tilburg (Netherlands) and Hazewinkel Lake in Belgium.

Jennifer Davis (Carnegie), Ishbel Rodger (West Lothian), Chris Ritchie (Dunoon), Megan Donnelly, Glenn McIntosh and Mark Deans (all City of Glasgow) collected 20 trophies during the weekend from 21 starts. 

The Tilburg Open Water Meet is one of the biggest in Europe with approaching 800 entries.  There were wins for Mark Deans (13-14 years 1 Km), Glenn McIntosh (15-16 years 1 Km and 18 and under 3 Km) Megan Donnelly (Open 3 Km) with an array of further podium positions from the rest of the team.

Belgium was even more successful as the Scots were totally dominant. Chris Ritchie led the way by winning the senior 5Km Breaststroke.

Further wins followed for Megan Donnelly (13-14 years 3 Km), Jennifer Davis (senior 2 Km) Glenn McIntosh (15-16 years 2 Km) and Mark Deans (13-14 years 3 km). 
Deans then went on to provide the highlight of the day when won the 13-14 year 1 Km race in a time which earned him prize money for breaking the record breaking time.  Ishbel Rodger was also in typically consistent form winning four trophies over the weekend for podium finishes in a range of events.
