Scots set to test 2009 form at European Championships in Croatia
City of Edinburgh’s Kris Gilchrist, who moved with coach Fred Vergnoux to train in Paris after the Olympics in August, will get a first chance to test his new regime at this month’s European short-course Championships in Rijeka, Croatia.
Gilchrist, who reached the semi-finals of the 200m breaststroke in Beijing, has already set his sights on the 2012 Games and will be among the title favourites.
Another five Scots are in the GB team – Olympians Hannah Miley, Robbie Renwick and Todd Cooper, plus Kerry Buchan and Lewis Smith.
Miley, who made huge strides last year, will be another medal hope in the medley, while 20-year-old Renwick showed his promise in Beijing by reaching the final of the 200m freestyle.
Now training in Glasgow with coach Eileen Adams, Renwick will be a key member of the freestyle relay team.
