Open water star Alistair Brown seeks alternative arrangements for London bid
Scot Alistair Brown has been forced to find a new training environment – but he hasn’t been diverted from his dream of swimming in the gruelling open water event at the 2012 Olympic Games.
During his time working with coach Elaine Matthews at the Dunedin Club in Edinburgh, the Linlithgow 19-year-old made a bold entry to the new discipline, and he has already represented Britain in 10K international meets.
The Dunedin Club has now been disbanded following a shake-up in Edinburgh swimming, but Alistair is now working with new coach Chris Jones at the Edinburgh University pool.
Open Water swimming is already been pinpointed as a focus event for Team GB at the next Olympics in London.
At the Beijing Olympics in August, Kerri-Anne Payne, Cassie Patten and David Davies all won medals for Team GB.
