Hannah Miley eyes World Championship gold in Rome
Inverurie swimmer Hannah Miley has vowed to wrap herself in cotton wool as she bids to secure her first major gold medal at July's World Championships in Rome.
The 19-year-old is in the form of her life having booked her plane ticket to the Italian capital with triple gold at the British Gas Championships in March.
Miley set new European records on the way to topping the podium in the 200m and 400m individual medley at Ponds Forge and had plenty left in the tank to claim the 200m breaststroke crown.
The Garioch flyer's time of 4:31.11 minutes in 400m medley was just two seconds shy of world record holder Stephanie Rice and left Miley dreaming of world gold in three months time.
"I need to go to Rome and do the best I can and I would like to avoid injury, said Miley, who finished sixth in the Olympic 400m medley final in August.
"It was unreal to get two European records and the 400m medley made my week in Sheffield. I knew it was going to be a hard event so I didn't think about the record.
"I think it is all down to my training, I am putting more hours in the gym and it is finally paying off. It was great to qualify for the World?s as now I can fully concentrate on Rome.
"The next step is to build on these performances and come away from Rome just as happy as I did in Sheffield."
