Hannahy Miley keeping world championship gameplan close to her chest
Hannah Miley, Scotland’s top hope for an individual medal, is playing it cool in the build-up to the world championships in Rome.
Currently with the GB team at a holding camp in Sardinia, the Garioch 20-year-old said: “I don’t want to give too much away. I do have targets and goals, but I'm keeping those to myself.
“But I want to make sure that I swim faster in the final than the heats. I didn’t do that at the Olympics.
I feel a bit more experienced than heading into Beijing, but I'm still learning and this is my first worlds.
Hannah’s father and coach, Patrick, will be poolside in Rome, and she added: “It’s great having my dad on the team. It means we can try and keep things as normal as possible to the stuff that we do at home.”
Another six Scots will be chasing glory in the Rome Pool, with Kris Gilchrist, in the 200m breaststroke, another of the individual medal prospects. Caitlin McClatchey, Robbie Renwick, Andy Hunter and David Carry should figure in strong 4 x 200m relay teams, while Warrender’s Lewis Smith makes his major championship debut in the 400m medley.
