Lucy Ellis and Sally Wood shine on opening day of Scottish National Age-Group Championships
Lucy Ellis and Sally Wood, two of Scotland’s most promising prospects, both struck gold on the opening day of the Scottish Gas Scottish National Age-Group Championships at Edinburgh’s Royal Commonwealth pool.
Ellis, 16, swam for Scotland at last year’s European Junior Championships and the Stirling youngster claimed gold in the 16-18 years 100m freestyle in 57.69, just finishing ahead of Carnegie’s Eloise Barber (58.21).
Wood, who competed for her country at the Commonwealth Youth Games in India last November, took the 400m individual medley in a fine 4:55.30 with Ren 96’s Kirsty Hart in second place in 4:57.23.
Hart went on to take the gold in the 200m butterfly in 2:16.91 and by a convincing four second margin from Warrender’s Jennifer Davis (2:21.31.)
