Lindsay unsure what way to go after below-par showing in Beijing
Scotland paralympic swimmer Andrew Lindsay admits his future remains in the balance following a below-par showing in Beijing this summer.
The 29-year-old Cowdenbeath-based star had two paralympic gold medals and one silver to his name prior to touching down in the Far East, but could only muster fourth and fifth place finishes this time around.
He lost his grip on the 100m backstroke crown before finishing fifth in the 400m freestyle as GB team-mate David Roberts took gold – smashing the world record in the process.
And Lindsay, who believes the standard of paralympic swimming is constantly improving, revealed his presence at London 2012 remains a doubt.
“I need to look at what my plans will be for the next two years and re-evaluate where I am going,” said the three-time world champion.
“I need to work on things – I don’t see the point of carrying on if I’m not competitive enough.
“I will have a look at my event selection and there could be a change, I will see what events I can compete in and see what else there is.
“I will have to take things year by year and see what happens and what the standard gets like.
“You never know how good the standard will become and in four years time it will be even faster.”
