Britain's oldest star Foster hails talent of fledgling Miley
Five-time Olympian Mark Foster believes Scottish swimming is on the up – and insists Garioch youngster Hannah Miley is the leading light.
The 19-year-old was the star of the show at the British Gas national championships last month, setting two new European records in the 200 and 400m medley.
Miley will be Scotland’s brightest hope when the World Championships get underway in Rome in July.
And Foster, who called time on his swimming career after the Beijing Olympics, has urged Miley to change nothing as she bids to recreate her British success on the world stage.
“I went up to Sheffield because I still love to be involved and I love the environment that goes with swimming,” said Foster.
“As a whole Scottish swimming has come along a lot and with Hannah and the other guys in there they are doing fantastically.
“Hannah is absolutely fantastic and she swam really well up in Sheffield. She is always smiling and I think that is the attitude she has got to keep.
“She has had a lot of success and it can sometimes be difficult to keep that going but she just needs to keep doing what she’s doing and she will go on to a lot of success.”
