

Scots secure five golds in first day of Celtic Tri-Nations Championship
Scotland picked up five gold medals on the opening day of the Celtic Tri-Nations Championship in Swansea – but it was home team that emerged as the leaders.
Scotland’s winners were Scott Houston (50m backstroke), Ranald Falconer (100m freestyle), Chris Jones (100m breaststroke), Lewis Smith (200m butterfly) and the men's 4x100m freestyle team.
Silver medals were won by Sara Hamilton (100m freestyle), Kirsty Hart (200m butterfly), Kerry Buchan (100m breaststroke), and Ian MacMillan (200m butterfly) while Craig Hamilton won bronze in the 1500m freestyle as did the women's 4x200m freestyle squad.
Scotland won the inaugural contest in Ireland two years ago – but Wales are the defending champions.
After the opening events the position stood as follows:
Wales 9471; Scotland 9259; Ireland 9040
