Alistair wins British title
Dunedin teenager Alistair Brown has continued his spectacular entry into open water swimming by winning the British Senior Championship in Nottingham.

His reward is selection in the GB team for the European senior Championships in Croatia next month.

It has been an amazing rise to stardom for the 18-year-old from Linlithgow, who is a Scottish age-group champion in the 1500m freestyle.

He competed in his first Open Water event in Italy in June - and then went on to compete in another international event in France followed by the European Junior Championships.

Already, he is shaping up as one of Britain's brightest prospects for the 2012 London Olympics.

"Winning the 10K British title was great for Alistair," said his coach, Elaine Matthews. "Now he's looking forward to the European Championships and another big test."
